The following images are produced from the www.old-maps.co.uk service with permission of Landmark Information Group Ltd. and Ordnance Survey.
The following are maps of where people in the Hale family tree lived. The next stage is to mark up places of interest on the maps. I know where they are but that dosn't help people looking! If you would like to know more please email me.

Ruth b. 5 Jun 1804 and ch. 8 Jul 1804 (Bethel)
Hertford
Where William and Elizabeth settled in 1807 and worked their Market Garden business.
I have taken the 1847 tythe map, and superimposed it on this 1884 map, and on the current OS map to show the location of the fields leased by William and later on by his sons Samuel and Daniel. This shows the 7 plots of land leased were split into 3 groups.
This map also shows Villiers Road where Daniels son Ebenezer lived before he moved back to Garden House after Daniel's death.

Brickwall Farm, Hertfordshire
Between 1866 & 1871 Samuel and Sarah Hale moved to Brickwall Farm situated on the Great North Road (A1) north of Lemsford and Hatfield and south of Welwyn and Digswell. 3 of their children were living here with them in 1871: Mary Ann, Julia and Augustus. The farm was 150 Acres and Samuel employed two men and two boys to help.
It is likely that Samuel died here in April 1871, as the Funeral Expenses include an expence of £1-0-0 for the hearse to convey Samuel to Hertford, where he was burried.

Hatfield Hyde, Hertfordshire
In 1851 census Thomas and Ann Oliver (age 50) was living at Ludwick Hall, Hatfield Hyde.
Owned 200 acres and employed 8 labourers, and 1 household servant.
The following children were living at home: Thomas(17), James(14), Sophia(13), Elizabeth(9), Richard(7), Mary(5) and Agnes(2).
Elizabeth went on to marry Ebenezer Hale in 1866.

Wheathapmstead, Hertfordshire
This is where it gets a little confusing.... so hold on
Thomas Oliver (Elizabeth's (who married Ebenezer) older brother, also mentioned above) lived in Wheathampstead for a while in the 1860's, his children were born there, including Ester who grew up to marry her cousin Daniel Herbert Hale (Ebenezer and Elizabeth's son). Thomas and Mary then moved to Stopsley.. see next map.

Stopsley, Bedfordshire.
Thomas and Mary Oliver farmed at Stopsley Lane Farm, at least from 1881 to 1901.
Annie Hale (daughter of Ebenezer and Elizabeth Hale) stayed here with her Uncle and Aunt (1891 census).
